Christopher B. Wigand
I am one of the few people that can say I am a native Floridian. After attending St. Thomas Aquinas High School, where I lettered in wrestling, I attended Auburn University in Alabama. In between playing rugby for the Tigers I obtained my Bachelor of Arts in criminal investigation in 1996, all while achieving Dean’s List honors three years in a row. I also was president of the Alpha Phi Sigma honor society and a general member of the Pi Sigma Alpha honor society.
I attended law school at NSU where I graduated in the top 15% of my class. I was also a recipient of the Leo Goodwin Fellowship, worked as a faculty research assistant, held a position on the Board of Editors of the Moot Court Society, and competed on the Moot Court Society traveling team.
During law school I worked for nationally recognized jury consultant Dr. Amy Singer, where I obtained invaluable experience with juries working on such publicized cases as the State of Florida tobacco litigation, Tylenol death cases, and several aviation disasters. I joined Fenster & Faerber (now Fenster & Cohen) as a law clerk after my second year of law school and officially as an attorney in 1999.
While at Fenster & Faerber I devoted my practice to civil litigation. I spent my time helping victims of medical malpractice and nursing home abuse. I also handled all types of personal injury cases ranging from slip and falls to construction site accidents. I successfully litigated hundreds of catastrophic cases resulting in over 100 million dollars in jury verdicts.
I joined Winston & Clark in May of 2006 as an associate and became a partner in March of 2008. In 2011 I became a named partner and the firm became Winston, Clark & Wigand, P.A. While at Winston, Clark & Wigand I continued to handle all types of personal injury cases as well as expanding my practice to contingent commercial litigation.
In 2012 I started The Wigand Law Firm, which specializes in providing personalized service to select clients. In addition to my position in The Wigand Law Firm I am also partner in the law firm of Williams, Hilal, Wigand, Grande, PLLC formed in 2014, which has offices in Davie, Ft. Lauderdale, Miami and Orlando and provides a full range services for both individual and corporate clients.
I have an AV peer review rating (which the highest rating a lawyer can obtain for professional and ethical standards) by Martindale-Hubbell which is considered the gold standard in attorney ratings. I am admitted to practice in Florida State Court, The United States District Court Southern District, The United States District Court Middle District, and The United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit. I have also been grated a life time membership in the Million Dollar Advocates Forum and the Mul-Million Dollar Advocates Forum. These two forums are recognized as two of the most prestigious groups of trial lawyers in the United States. Membership is reserved for attorneys who have won million and multi-million dollar verdicts, awards and settlements. Fewer than 1% of U.S. lawyers are members. I am also very proud to annouce that I was named as a 2017 Super Lawyer by Super Lawyers which is a rating service of outstanding lawyers from more than 70 practice areas who have attained a high-degree of peer recognition and professional achievement. The patented selection process includes independent research, peer nominations and peer evaluations..
I am a former certified arbitrator for the Broward County Better Business Bureau. I am currently serving on the Broward County Bar Association Bench and Clerk Committee and Lawyer Referral Committee and I am also a past director of the Broward County Justice Association, member of the Broward County Bar Association Bench and Bar Committee, and Local Rules Sub Committee.
